Which Keyserver is Kleopatra using

I was looking around in the settings today and see that under Directory Services it has an entry for OpenPGP Keyserver: hkp://keys.gnupg.net which is also in the gpg.conf file for keyserver.

However in the GnuPG System configuration under Configuration for Keyservers it lists: hkps://hkps.pool.sks-keyservers.net.

I not sure which one it is using. Is something messed up in the config or ?? I’m not even sure if these servers are valid or not as when I tried pinging both, they were unreachable.

Thanks

Hi Mark,

the --keyser option to gpg is deprecated, see https://www.gnupg.org/documentation/manuals/gnupg/GPG-Configuration-Options.html#index-keyserver-1

So the configuration of dirmngr is the good one now.

Pinging these servers is not likely to give a result, some are DNS round robing domain names, so you’d ping other servers. Try accessing them with a web-browser and https.

Both are very similiar.

Best Regards,
Bernhard
