prefer SMIME does not work

Hi,

unfornately “prefer SMIME” does not work in GPGOL 2.3.0 properly! I tested it many times, most times it does not work.

Please fix it.

Works for me :-/ And the code is pretty straightforward. Do you see any pattern when it does not work for you?

What might be an issue is that if you have S/MIME disabled and enable it and “prefer s/mime” while outlook is running it might only have the OpenPGP keys in the internal keycache. As we only look for keys for a mail address once and if S/MIME is disabled we don’t load S/MIME keys.

So after enabling it it is best to restart Outlook.

We also do the whole validity check for S/MIME certs before they can be used for encryption which might run into the usual CRL check delays. (I doubt that this is your problem, it’s just another idea why it might not work as expected for you)
