Detailed description
openvasmd fails without displaying an error message at least in these cases:

- there is no database yet

- ports are already in use

Well, openvasmd does not even return an error return value. Thus there is no way to decide whether it started correctly.

# openvasmd --port 9390 --sport 9391
# openvasmd --port 9390 --sport 9391 && echo okay
okay

IMHO fatal errors in startup should be reported to stderr. After startup the daemon may happily detach and even fatal errors may go to the logfile.

Error messages are (intentionally) printed to the log file and not to stdout/stderr.
