Cannot generate new key with an expiration date beyond 2038

Hi, I have just installed the gpg4win-2.3.4 on Windows 10. When I try to generate a new certificate (OpenGPG personal key pair), I just get a message that the operation failed with a ‘General Error’. I have tried reinstalling with system reboots either side, and running as Administrator. Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Aha - date 32-bit signed integer bug!

Certificate creation gives general error, if expiry date is beyond 2038

I was creating a certificate with a 50 year expiry.

Neil,
thanks for testing!

Best,
Bernhard

Good catching a bug, but isn’t long expiry counter productive?
Better to keep expiry short, so you know you have to touch it regularly, and if you ever lose access you don’t have to rely on revocation, since it’ll become invalid soon enough.
