Outlook 2010 14.0.7268.5000 (32-bit) Crash with GpgOL plugin enabled.

Hello,

I just installed Gpg4Win today on Win10 x64. It seemed to okay okay and I was able to do a test message in outlook.

However, I had a message in the inbox that was a couple months old, when I clicked reply, that’s when outlook would crash (every time). I looked for a .dmp or .mdmp file but couldn’t find one. I then disabled the plug-in and I could reply to the message just fine.

Any ideas?

I did find information in event viewer and .wer file:

There were two .wer files, this one is for the outlook the other one it generated for explorer.exe for some reason.

Hi David,
thanks for the report!

One possibility to check is for other add-ins to see if they are incompatible with GpgOL.
https://wiki.gnupg.org/GpgOL/IncompatibleAddons
has a list of some known issues with other add-ins.

Best Regards,
Bernhard

Maybe it’s the PDF one? It was weird that it was working for the new emails I was testing, but I didn’t do a lot of testing. Anything I can do to help to fix, I could maybe open the debugger when it offers if had the symbols or something?

Hi David,
if you have a lot of add-ins, you could try disabling them and see if this makes a difference.
If so, you could try to disable a half of them until you find the add-in that is causing the trouble.

Regards,
Bernhard

Hi,

I am also having a similar problem where Outlook crashes

  • Outlook for Microsoft 365, 16.0.13801.21072, 64 bit,
  • Windows 10 Pro

I have disabled all the plugins except for GpgOL and Outlook still crashes.

Symptom.

  • It only happens when I reply to a particular person.
  • It only happens if the message format is “Rich Text”. If the email is HTML or plain text, then Outlook does not crash.

Any ideas ?

Hi T P,
thanks for reporting.

Is anything special about the name of the recipient that triggers the crash?
Can you enable GpgOL debugging output to see more information
(do not fully post it here, it can contain personal information)

Only OpenPGP, right?

Regards
Bernhard
