Email encryption problems

I have generated a key/ recieved my friends key but when i try to send an email the enrypt button seems to do nothing when i click it after the initial (select at least one recipient). I have followed the readme but it doesn’t seem to help.
I am running windows 8 x64 and outlook 2010
Thanks for any advice in advance!

You can try to turn on the GPgOL debug log, just set the STRING registry settings
as described here:
http://gpg4win.de/doc/en/gpg4win-compendium_29.html

Just the make sure: The outlook ist 32bit, isn’t it?

So i set the enablebug value to 1
but im a bit confused by the next line which i assume is telling it where to save the logs.

Ok, so small update, now when i try encrpy it brings up the certificate selection for myself and the sender. but when i press OK it deletes the previous message content and fills it with my public key, but doesn’t encrypt the message, or ask me for my password like when i have used it previously
Regards

For encryption, there is no password needed.
And for Outlook 2010 the GPGOL does not use PGP/MIME,
it uses the no-mime format, which looks like

-----BEGIN PGP MESSAGE-----

try to send it to yourself or to put it in a file and “decrypt” it.

OK!!! all working. So the initial problem was when i first started outlook after installing gpg4win it was missing some .dll file, which i though was due to incompatability but turns out that i just hadn’t launched Kleopatra.

Then i ran them in compatibility mode but this caused the gpgol buttons not to work in outlook. after disabling this i was just unfamiliar with the setup, and thought it wasn’t working properly when it actually was.

Thank you so much for you’re help

You’re welcome!
Feel free to spread the word, flattr us or to help others!

No worries, will do
One last quick question, is it possible to send gpgOL directly from outlook 2010 to someone using outlook 2007?
Regards

You can send it, but I’m not sure how easy it is for them to open it.
This is the problem with not using PGP/MIME.
We’d love to improve on this of course, see wishlist in wiki.gnupg.org

We appreciate reports there, btw.

PDF postman is tool for Outlook users that solves all your issues of sending and receiving secure emails and files. It is very helpful for sending secure an email messages and attachments. You can compose email messages in Outlook and attach any documents to the message and then click on the “PDF Encrypt” button and thus to activate your PDF Postman.

Yeah, I used to sort this out with Postman. It seemed to work fine, the pdf encrypted there are really encrypted yet for good, it’s some sort of impossible challenge to decrypt them even with the key. I prefer this one more https://pump-it-up-job-form.pdffiller.com/ it’s a paid one but works better as well as has a full support for the Outlook attachments
