All user ssh-keys on wald were deleted!

(deutschsprachige Version siehe unten)

Due to a faulty patch in the Debian OpenSSL package all SSH keys
generated on Debian Etch systems are weak and must be considered
compromised. See http://www.debian.org/security/2008/dsa-1571 and
http://wiki.debian.org/SSLkeys for further information.

As many of the user uploaded keys on wald.intevation.org are affected
we decided to delete _all_ user ssh keys from the server.

Please check your ssh keys with the tools provided by Debian and
generate a new key-pair (after updating your System!) if necessary.
In case you know that your original key-pair was generated on an
Debian Etch system no special checking is needed: all these keys
_must_ be deleted and replaced by freshly generated ones!

After that, please upload your public key again.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

New Theme on wald.intevation.org

Today we finally switched the theme of wald.intevation.org from the gforge default theme to a customized, a bit more beautiful version.

Many thanks to Emanuel Schütze and Benni Kirschner for making this possible!

We hope the users on wald will like it, too.
May the code grow!

Thuban-1.2.1 released

Bringing out to light what was hidden -
is a fitting motto of this maintenance release. Thuban had a few interesting
Extensions, but if users saw them depended on their customisation. Now
all Extensions can be enabled per installation. Not all of these gems
have been fully brought back to life. With ogr you can still open up
all formats this powerful library can read. Wms currently needs a makeover
which is on the list for the next release. Of course a number of defects
have been fixed. The Thuban 1.2.x series seems a little less stable than
usual because of the way we are half way there to fully support unicode
internally. But thanks to our users, all reports help us to iron out
the problems! Thanks to all that have send us feedback!

Thuban is an Interactive Geographic Data Viewer, extensible and multi-platform mainly writting in Python.

OpenVAS-Client 1.0.0 released

After some 0.9 releases this is finally the intial
1.0 release of OpenVAS-Client.

OpenVAS-Client is a successor of NessusClient 1.X.
The fork happened with NessusClient CVS HEAD 20070704.
The reason was that the original author of NessusClient
decided to stop active development for this (GTK-based)
NessusClient in favour of a newly written QT-based version
released as proprietary software.

Compared to the NessusClient 1.X release,
various new features have been added, especially
caching mechanisms to increase transparency and
increase plugin load speed.

Additionally some visual improvements have been
implemented. The following additional languages are supported:
german, spanish, swedish and hebrew.

Main changes since 0.9.1:

* New language: spanish.
* New language: hebrew.
* Various code cleanups.
* Various string fixes.
* Added some scripts to support W32 installer packaging.

OpenVAS-Client 0.9.1 released

This is a cleanup and minor improvements release.

This release is the basis for packaging tests
and further translations into other languages.

Except for translations and bug fixes identified
though packaging/testing no changes are planned
for the major 1.0.0 release.

Main changes since 0.9.0:

* Removed users manual which now forms a package
 of its own ("openvas-manual").
* Decreased memory consumption considerably for
 the case when looking into many different reports
 with more or less the same plugins.
* Added menu entry to execute "sladinstaller" GUI.
 SLAD is the Security Local Auditing Daemon which
 comes with some NASL scripts and thus can now be fully managed
 through OpenVAS-Client.
* Updated german translation.

1.1.0 released

With the English manual included in this release it seems justified to bump up the version number. Unfortunately the package is a bit larger now due to this manual and due an update of the GTK+ library. The advantage of that new library is that GPA and Claws do now better integrate into the windows style.

wald.intevation.org move completed

after some delay wald.intevation.de has now been moved to a new home as announced in the last site news.

Some basic testing of most features has been done and everything looks good. Nevertheless it is quie possible that there are still some hidden glitches caused by the move, so please report problems you might experience.

Happy hacking!
